WDCCA Rule changes

Rule changes for 2006/2007

You should note that the WDCCA Management Committee has made certain changes to the indoor regulations (Regulation 8) that will apply from the start of this indoor season.  The changes are:

  1. A Bye will incur a one-run penalty, rather than the two-run penalty we have applied in previous seasons.
  2. A Wide Ball will incur a three-run penalty, rather than the two-run penalty we have applied in previous seasons.
  3. A No Ball will incur a three-run penalty, rather than the two-run penalty we have applied in previous seasons.
  4. If the ball should go on to hit any wall after a deliberate action by the wicketkeeper (e.g. an attempted stumping or an attempted run out), this will result in a one-bye overthrow.

The reason for most of these changes is to bring Winchester into line with other indoor competitions.

For clarification (I hope) - in the past, a wide ball that goes on to hit the back wall would have scored four wides (two for the wide plus two for the byes).  Under the new regulations this will still result in four wides, but be made up of three wides plus one for the bye.  A similar situation applies for a No Ball that goes on to hit the back wall without hitting the bat or the striker.
