Captain's Post Season ReportDate: 28/08/2006Last year saw the WCC League team relegated to Hants North West 3, without question this represents a low point for us all. This year after additional training, and preparation we came to the start of the season with great hopes of finding our way to promotion. At the time of writing we may still have a chance of promotion, however it appears to be a goal that is mathematically slipping away from us. This was my first year as captain of the league team, and I have learned a lot, mostly by my own mistakes. But without question the most important thing I have been taught by this year’s team is that natural talent can only get you so far but having the right mental attitude will take you even further. In my heart I know we could have performed better as a team on several occasions, but it is only through persistence that an individual and therefore a team can improve, and become more resilient. Next year like this year we will all improve, and I know this because I believe in the natural ability and mental strength of the individuals that make our team. This years victories have been marked by several consistently great performers like Jez Holman, Mark Pettman, Andy Hampson and Gary Mead to mention but a few. |
